One out of 100 Top Photos of 2020

2020 will be remembered for many cases in News Photography. If most of these cases concerned the world because of the COVID-19 pandemic and quarantine, but it will be remembered for the Patriotic War in Azerbaijan also. During the military operations, a number of civilians were killed as a result of ballistic missile attacks on a number of cities of Azerbaijan. The worst of them was the shelling of Ganja and Barda from rocket-propelled grenades, which were also on the agenda of the world media. Probably, that is why a photo taken by Ivor Prickett in Barda is among 100 news photos from 2020 of TIME magazine.

Ivor’s works in Iraq and Syria has earned him multiple World Press Photo Awards and in 2018 he was named as a Pulitzer finalist. Mostly, he focuses on the human tragedy caused by the wars in the Middle East, the Balkans and the Caucasus.

Ivor’s work has been recognised through a number of prestigious awards including The World Press Photo, The Pulitzer Prizes, The Overseas Press Club Awards, Pictures of the Year International, Foam Talent, The Taylor Wessing Portrait Prize and The Ian Parry Scholarship. His photos have been exhibited widely at institutions such as The Victoria and Albert Museum, Sotheby’s, Foam Gallery and The National Portrait Gallery London. He is represented by Panos Pictures in London and he is a European Canon Ambassador.
