Baku Art Weekend: Flow State — Reflecting the City Through Water

Location: Kichik QalArt Gallery 58, Icheri Sheher
Dates: November 1–30, 2025
Baku is the city of fountains — where water becomes the center of public life, a symbol of gathering, relaxation, and inspiration. Fountains are the living stages of the city, where the private and public intertwine: here people dream, argue, fall in love, and remember.
The project “Fly to Baku: Flow State” explored water as a metaphor for movement, change, and the continuous growth of Baku. Seven artists create new works inspired by the city’s fountains, transforming each one into a point of personal and collective history.
The exhibition unites painting, video, object, photography, and performance. The artists reveal how these spaces shape the city’s identity, how the past and future merge in the flow of water, and how public places become mirrors of society’s inner life.
Before the opening, a series of public performances unfolded across central Baku. These site-specific actions drew in spontaneous audiences and set the tone for the exhibition’s themes of flow, gathering, and shared space.
