Act N°1 is a brand established in Italy by International designers Galib Gassanoff and Luca Lin. The name has a precise meaning and it is intended as the designers’ infancy like the first act of their life, which inspired them in developing the brand. Its essence and image it’s all about its designer’s personal story and multicultural background with a focus on their childhood, home and lifestyle where antique Chinese fine art and Azerbaijani craftsmanship collide. Each season the Act N°1 show aims to express a story regarding inclusivity and women’s condition all over the world.
“Blood has no race nor gender”. This being the FW 2020-21 headline message, Act n°1 continues its mission to inspire their generation and beyond through inclusivity, guiding them towards equal rights – not stereotypes.
“To accept and embrace the fact that we are all diverse and unique. We have always managed to combine our cultures and traditions which are (not solely) aesthetically very different. In the same way, to keep gender predefinition off-screen, we intend to mix male and female wardrobes. We support adoption and single motherhood by showing it on the catwalk, in a Middle Eastern and Asian traditional way”.
The construction of the collection is based on the dissolution of tailoring and traditional dressmaking. Parts of the pilot bomber are attached to wool check classic jackets. Ruched tulle gowns are torn apart and sewn on jackets. Double belted skirts and pants, draped shirts, our iconic double shirts, animalier printed velvet coats, landscape printed jacquard robes are also pivotal items. Carefully hand-embroidered items shine with sparkling Swarovski crystals, cut in different shapes.
The brand is steadily growing and it is distributed worldwide in stores like Selfridges in London, Tsum in Moscow, H Lorenzo in L.A., IT Hong Kong, Concento in Tokyo and Luisa Via Roma.
