Sevil International Women Documentary Film Festival is an independent film Festival in Azerbaijan that focuses on gender issues. The main goal of Sevil – IWDFF is to promote documentary filmmaking among filmmakers and people working in this sphere, to draw attention to gender issues, and to raise cultural activity in the regions. The Festival started its activities in September 2020.
Our festival presents to Azerbaijan audience films from all over the world and stimulates public discussions on different gender topics. We also try to support the local film industry by conducting film competitions open to local filmmakers where they can present their short and full length films. Moreover, the festival has been organized in places outside of the capital where not so many cultural events are happening.
We are planning to hold then extedition of our festival in Ganja on August 25-29. During the event, we are planning to showcase local and international films and conduct discussions.
This year’s edition is dedicated to femicides. Unfortunately, this problem has always been actual in our country and with the help of the festival we want to draw attention to increased number of femicidies during the last few years.
